Episode 4 – The Brick Lane Edition
Curry is nearly synonymous with Brick Lane (the ultra-hip street in Shoreditch, London, UK, home to some of the best curry in the world). In this episode, we meet Andrew Carter, owner and chef of The Oxley, a British gastropub in Toronto’s Yorkville.
We hear about Andrew’s saucy approach to Midland Lamb Curry (recipe available here), learn more about the restaurant’s namesake, and discuss the terpsichorean art of layering spices.
The Oxley gives a nod to traditional British pub décor but keeps it fresh with colour and space. It’s a truly welcoming spot that has incredibly great food. Do not miss the curry or the fish pie! It’s open seven days a week for brunch, lunch and dinner. You can find out more here.
We also suggest that you keep your eyes peeled for the re-opening of Andrew’s other gastropub, The Wickson Social. It’s currently under construction (due to a flood!) but we have inside knowledge that it’s going to be great.
In this episode, we give a shout out to The New Farm, and fund-raising efforts in collaboration with Community Food Centres called Farms for Change. Check out their links for upcoming events.
